Top Ten: Characters I Would Like to Be

Top Ten is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Characters I Would Like to Switch Places With for 24 Hours

1. Bella from Twilight because duh, she has a very nice vampire and a super hot werewold after her!

2. Lena from Beautiful Creatures. She is the ultimate Caster and has Ethan! Plus I really love the atmosphere of the story!

3. Chloe from The Summoning because she's tough and cool and her friends are absolutely awesome!

4. Lily from Forgive My Fins! Who doesn't want to be an amazing, powerful mermaid princess?

5. Nora from Hush, Hush. She's really fun and a good friend. Plus, I think it would be awesome to live in her world. Patch is a bonus too!

6. Rose from Vampire Academy because she's one tough chick. I admire her strength and wit. I also love how passionate she is about Dimitri.

7. Stevie Rae from House of Night because she has an adorable accent (yes, I can hear her accent when I read lol) and she is sweet, tough, and a loyal friend.

8. Remy from This Lullaby, she has a great personality and I love her approach to love!

9. Rhine from Wither! I want to make a big change like her! I would love to try to stop their predestined age of death.

10. Hudson from Bittersweet. She is a lot like me. I love cupcakes and I figure skate, but Hudson is way better than me at both!

REViEW:
I have to admit, I was afraid when I picked up this book. When it first came out, I read some mixed reviews, but decided to give it a try anyway. Boy am I glad I did! This book started off with a bang and continued with a fast pace. The plot had some twists and turns, which kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the unique plot and twisted motives of the School. This book did have some creepy factors, which I found awesome. The whole idea of a journey to safety from a controling society was really intriguing. I think that Ms. Carey has created an unique world that is full of secrets and mysteries. I can't wait to read more!

The characters were really well done! Eve was an intellegent, fun character. I loved reading from her honest point of view. She had her faults, but that made her seem real. Arden was also really well created. I liked the way her character evolved as she learned to trust. Oh and Caleb... oh how I love him...except when he is drunk. Caleb was the best guy for Eve. He was a knight in shining armor and was absolutely great. I loved the way all the characters worked together. They really added something special to this book.

The ending was surprising! I really enjoyed it! I'm kind of afraid to find out what happens next though. I can already tell the sequel will be more amazing than this great book! Overall, if you like dystopian journeys, this is the book for you. It's kind of like Wither meets Dilerium.

My Favorite Part: Eve's journey and how Caleb always found his way to Eve.

SUMMARY:
It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come. But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started—at Cousins Beach.-Goodreads.com

REViEW:
I absolutely adored The Summer I Turned Pretty. There was something about the carefree summer romance vibe that really carried that book to the top of my favorites list. This book was a great sequel. It was a fast book to read. My one complaint is the flashbacks, which at time were hard to distinguish from the present. Other than that, I thought the plot was exciting. Everything fell into place and memories were incorporated to fill in the reader. This is a great book to read in summer because, although deep, it still maintains that feeling of freedom and summer loving that we all long for in our lives.

The characters were epic. I loved exploring how grief affected each of the characters differently. Belly got mad in this book, but I understood her feelings. It's hard when someone dies. I really enjoyed hearing about Belly's daily struggle of trying to cope and get past the empty feeling. Conrad was missing for the majority of this book, but through flashbacks and other events, I really saw his motive for leaving and understood his pain. I think I love him even more now. Jeremiah... ah he's pretty great too. He's still pretty happy and witty and added some lightless to this book. I really wish Belly didn't have to choose between two such wonderful men! (Whoever she doesn't pick, I'll take!)

The ending was pretty good. I did not really see that coming... My main complaint is that it happened too fast. I didn't fully understand why Belly did what she did just because we all know she is in love with Conrad. Overall though, this book was great. I really enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to finish off this amazing summer series!

My Favorite Part: How the stress about Susannah was expressed through Belly and Conrad.

ALL iN ALL:

Will I be reading the next book? I read it right after I finished this book!

SUMMARY:
Sixteen-year-old Camelia's life had been fairly ordinary--until a mysterious boy named Ben starts junior year at her high school. Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia.-Goodreads.com

REViEW:
I'm a big fan of mystery books. And I aboslutely love it when YA authors write a spellbinding mystery that is so intense that you can't even read it before bed. That's what this book was like to me. I actually tried to read right before I went to sleep one night and woke up in the middle of the night screaming! Oh this book was worth it though! It was like Pretty Little Liars meets Twilight. It blends in a little bit of romance to a whole lot of mystery. The suspense surrounding a stalker really gave this book a lot of intrigue. Throughout the entire book, I kept trying to figure out who the stalker was. I never would've guessed the true culprit.

The characters were really well written! Camelia was an awesome protagonist. I liked the way she was drawn to Ben and the struggle she faced surrounding trying to stay away from him. Ben was the ultimate "bad-boy who really isn't so bad". I would have totally fallen for him too. All the minor characters were also vividly described. Kimmie, the best friend, had a dual personality to me, which kind of turned me off. She was the only character that made me think that maybe I had misjudged their character. She seemed to be one way and then acted diferently from what I expected. Other than her, Matt was another wonderful character. He had an complex personality that I really enjoyed. At first he was just the "ex trying to get the girlfriend back" but there was a lot more to him.

The ending was so suspenseful! I did not expect that ending! I really didn't see the bad guy coming. I felt so bad about what Camelia had to undergo during the end though. She really didn't deserve the harsh treatment. All in all, this is a quick, crazy scary read that you won't be able to put down!

My Favorite Part: The mystery! It kept me on the edge of my seat!

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Heck yeah! It's an awesome mystery!

Will I be reading the next book? Of course! I already bought it!

Thanks for reading!

REViEW:
I like me some mermaid books :) Ever since Forgive My Fins, I have been on a mermaid kick, but I still have yet to find a mermaid book that was as enjoyable as the Fins series. Don't get me wrong, I liked this book very much in the beginning. It was an easy book to get into and was relaxing to read. The plot made a lot of sense and the characters and dialogue all served a critical purpose. I feel like the author could've been a little more creative when it came to the climax of the story. It was typical and nonsurprising, which kind of annoyed me. Other than that, I thought that this book did have some interesting features and characters.

The characters were okay. I loved Lexi, except for how she acted over Cole, when she should've just talked to him and told him the truth. Cole was great. He was an awesome character and a terrific boyfriend. I really wish he was real! Sienna was a great best friend. I liked her personality. I just didn't like her role in the ending, it just didn't really make sense. Erik was also alright for the majority of the book. When the ending came around, I was about to freak out. Note to authors: please do not drastically change the personality of your characters, it makes us readers want to pull our hair out.

In all honesty, I hated the ending with such a passion. Why? Because it made this great book into a cliche, bad movie. I don't know why Ms. Hubbard had to include such a stereotypical villain. It made this book into a joke, in my opinion. I did love this book for the most part. I loved how Cole and Lexi couldn't be together, so Lexi went on to find a way so that they could be together. That I liked. But then the ending completely turned me off.
My Favorite Part: Cole...oh how I love him.

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Yeah it's an easy, fast read.
