If Only We Blog Tour

About the Book
They say all it takes is one wrong move and you lose the game. One false step and you’re trapped. One slip-up in your choice of words and you ruin a friendship forever. That is what they say. They say I lost. I do not believe them. At the end of the summer after graduation, Adrienne wonders what happened to cause her life to be in ruins. She isn’t getting along with her mom, her stepsister isn’t talking to her, and, to top it off, the boy she’s been in love with doesn’t want anything to do with her. She believes the turning point was a choice she made at graduation. When she wakes up the next day, she has been transported back three months to that moment, the one where everything started to fall apart.
Adrienne realizes she has been given a second chance—and this time she doesn’t want to mess anything up. Reliving the entire summer, though, turns out to be a lot harder than she thought. As the same days and weeks go by, she starts to see how simple decisions can make a huge impact on the world around her. Despite knowing some of what lies ahead, there are some things she didn’t anticipate. She thought she knew what mistake led her to where she ended up the first time. She was wrong. And by the time summer is over, she discovers what was really at stake.

About the Book
"Once upon a time, Ruby believed in magic…When Ruby volunteers to take her mother's housecleaning shift at the gothic Cottingley Heights mansion, she thinks it's going to be business as usual. Clean out the fridge, scrub toilets, nothing too unusual. But nothing could prepare her for the decadent squalor she finds within. Rich people with more money than sense trashing their beautiful clothes and home just because they can. After the handsome Tam discovers her cleaning up after him and his rich friends, Ruby has never felt more like a character from her sister’s book of fairy tales. Tam sees beyond Ruby’s job and ratty clothes, and sweeps her off her feet, treating her like a real princess, but Ruby is sure this beautiful boy is too good to be true. And as one tragedy after another befalls Ruby and her family, Ruby painfully learns that magic is all too real, and it always comes with a price." -Goodreads
My Thoughts
Slumber was a very fast and easy read. I picked this book up and was able to read it in just one sitting. The summary and plot intrigued me from the start. Ruby lives in a trailer park and when her mom becomes ill Ruby must take over her mom's cleaning job at Cottingley Heights mansion. From that point on Ruby begins to spend more and more time with Tam and his friends, who she meets while cleaning. I was really drawn into the story because of the psychology and mystery of why all of Tam's friends party and do other mean-spirited things. The plot was unique to me, I just wish that the plot could have been more in depth and didn't skip around so much. If this book was just a little bit longer I think I would have enjoyed it even more.

That being said, one of the big factors that made me want to keep reading was the characters and all of their interesting personalities. Ruby was so enjoyable to read from because she was well-rounded and her character is very developed throughout the story. Tam was a realistic guy, and I really liked how he was rude sometimes because, let's face it, guys are jerks a lot.

The ending was very good. I really did like it, but it seemed to come a little too fast and soon for me. I did really enjoy getting the opportunity to read this book and to experience this wonderfully drawn out world that Bolton created. My only real complaint was that it was too short for my liking, but that also made this book really fast and easy to read. I definitely look forward to seeing more of this author in the future.
