REViEW:
This is a very intriguing book. Warning: As soon as you begin reading this book, you won't be able to stop. The plot is so mysterious and interesting that you want to keep reading to find out all the secrets. Throughout this entire book, I wanted to know the truth behind who Mallory was and what her reason was for friending Phoebe. Something about Ms. Werlin's writing captivated me from the first page. I really loved how the plot focused mainly on (but was not limited to) friendship. The friendship in this book made this book easily relatable. It was not like all the other girl meets guy, girl and guy fall head over heels in love stories. This was unique. I really felt as if I was a part of Mallory and Phoebe's world of friendship, lies, and pixie dust.
The characters were beautifully written. I could picture Mallory, Phoebe and Ryland. They all had distinct personalities and motives that made this book great. Specifically, Phoebe was the typical girl doubting that she had and 'special' qualities. What teenage girl doesn't feel that way sometimes? Phoebe was easy to relate to because of her quirks as well as her normal, typical attitude. Mallory, on the other hand, was different. She didn't fit in and didn't care. She is the kind of girl that I am best friend's with. She's beautiful and makes Phoebe feel average. Mallory does have a lot of depth to her character because of all things she hides from Phoebe. I was constantly trying to figure out what Mallory was really about. Ryland was very attractive. I could see why Phoebe liked him. Although he has a dark side, he's lovable. I understand how everything ended because I get that he and Mollory both had loyalties.
The ending of Extraordinary was so vivid and unexpected. I really did not see this ending coming. Overall this book is a wonderful journey of friendship and loyalties that ends with a BAM! From the first to the last page this book is truly captivating and explains exactly what it means to be extraordinary.
My Favorite Part: The intriguing secrets of Mallory's.
