Waiting on Wednesday (4)

The Pledge by Kimberly Derting
Release: November 15, 2011
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry
Series: The Pledge, Book 1
Page Amount: 320, US Hardback

In the violent country of Ludania, the classes are strictly divided by the language they speak. The smallest transgression, like looking a member of a higher class in the eye while they are speaking their native tongue, results in immediate execution. Seventeen-year-old Charlaina has always been able to understand the languages of all classes, and she's spent her life trying to hide her secret. The only place she can really be free is the drug-fueled underground clubs where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. It's there that she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy named Max who speaks a language she's never heard before . . . and her secret is almost exposed.
Charlie is intensely attracted to Max, even though she can't be sure where his real loyalties lie. As the emergency drills give way to real crisis and the violence escalates, it becomes clear that Charlie is the key to something much bigger: her country's only chance for freedom from the terrible power of a deadly regime. - Goodreads

Why? This book sounds very eerie and unique. I can't wait to get this book/ I love the whole idea of being divided by a language. I love books with secrets tied into them and this book sounds like it's going to be filled with suspense. I've been looking for a book that would have a spooky feel to it and yet still include romance and everything else that a good YA book contains.

A quick apology: I'm so sorry for not posting as frequently as I have this summer. School has been keeping me busy so I haven't gotten much reading done. Hopefully I will get a chance to read a lot more next month.

SUMMARY:

Grace and Sam share a kinship so close they could be lovers or siblings. But they also share a problem. When the temperature slips towards freezing, Sam reverts to his wolf identity and must retreat into the woods to protect his pack. He worries that eventually his human side will fade away and he will be left howling alone at the lonely moon. A stirring supernatural teen romance.-Goodreads.com

REViEW:
Ahh I loved this book. I was a little bit apprehensive to start this book. I tryed to read it awhile ago and thought it was so slow and boring. After reading a lot more YA, I realize how beautifully written this book was. The writing is lyrical and really amazing. Ms. Stiefvater's writing is slow, but not boring slow. Her style is just very slow. I did enjoy every minute of it, it's just not the kind of book that is easy to read in one day. The plot was well thought out. It wasn't the typical wolf plot. I liked how she incorporated the changing of wolves into man in warmth. I thought that played very well into this book.

The characters were really believable. I loved Sam. I just didn't think there was much depth about Sam and Grace falling in love. It was just like girl meets boy and automatically start kissing. There was no development of their relationship. I didn't really get to see them fall in love, which I would've liked. The alternate point of views were enjoyable, I liked being able to get inside Sam's head. Some times Sam said things that were the kind of things that Grace would've said. I like it when one author can bring together two distinct voices and make them completely different. At the beginning of the book, I thought that Grace was a sweet, innocent, loner girl, but later on her personality rapidly changed. I don't know if I missed something, but she seemed to be a little bit trampy when Sam came into the picture. It was unexpected. Other than those few things, I loved the characters.

The ending was so beautiful. It really touched my heart. I'm rooting for Sam and Grace's relationship, and can not wait to get my hands on the next book. The ending was pretty simple, but really cute. It actually surprised me a little bit.

My Favorite Part: Sam and Grace's relationship, no question about it. It was so romantic, and I can't help wishing that Sam was my boyfriend.

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Absolutely. It's really really good!

Will I be reading the next book? Yes! I plan to buy it very soon!

Thanks for reading and for the comments I have been receiving and for following me. I really appreciate it all. I've been pretty busy with school, but I plan to read more soon and make my YouTube channel.

Why? House of Night is one of my favorite series of all time! I have been so excited for this book since that crazy ending in Awakened. I am so excited that I only have to wait a few more days until Destined is released! So much happened in that book I actually had to edit out some MAJOR spoilers from the summary. If you have read Awakened and would like to read the entire synopsis, just click on the Goodreads link above. I know that there are a lot of books in this series, but in my opinion, I think these books are great. I admit, they do not have the best writing, but the action and plot makes these books an amazing ride. If you gave up on this series and did not read Awakened, read it! Awakened was probably my favorite book in this series. I think this series is improving as it moves forward.

This is the second book in The Lying Game series, I will not post any intentional spoilers but please do not contnue reading if you have not read The Lying Game

SUMMARY:

Sara Shepard, the author of the Pretty Little Liars novels, has followed up those top-selling fictions with an even more artfully knotted series. At its center is a murdered narrator whose long-lost identical twin sister Emma is serving as a stand-in detective to find the killer. In the second episode of their hunt, the pair discovers new clues, but they know that as they search for the killer, he or she is watching their every move, waiting for the right moment to end it all. Editor's recommendation.-Goodreads.com

REViEW:
This book was AH-MAZING! Ohmigosh it had everything I loved about the Pretty Little Liar series! This book was so much better than the first book in this series. There was so much suspense and anticipation for the ending that I could barely stand it! Halfway through the book it felt like it was the exact same passage from Pretty Little Liars, it kind of seemed repetitive. Then, like two seconds later, BAM! It was so shocking... I don't want to give too much away, but let me tell you, it was quite a thrilling ride.

The characters were a little bit easier to understand in this installment. I liked being able to get to know Mads and Char. The Twitter Twins... whoa, did not expect that. Crazy... Anywho, the characters were a lot more developed in this book. I did not even mind Sutton's point of view in this book. I love how Ms. Shepard leads you along through the entire book about "who did it?" and then on the last page is all "just kidding! *insert twist here*." Her storyline and her ability to keep you on the edge of your seat is reason enough to buy this book, preferably right this minute.

I did not expect that ending... wow... SHOCKING!!! Give me book 3 RIGHT NOW! I can not wait until the next book comes out. The ending was a total cliffhanger and makes me want to cry that I have to wait until February until the next book comes out. During my Lying Game review I said that I preferred the show over the book, not anymore. This book was so crazy suspenseful, I am now a full fledged Lying Game book lover.

My Favorite Part: Ooh... probably the twists in this one and the whole thing with the Twins.

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Yes, please buy it right now!

Will I be reading the next book? DUH! I want it now. :(

Thank you for reading! I would love to hear your thoughts on The Lying Game show or book series.
