SUMMARY:
Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen. Sometimes life-ending. Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems. -Goodreads.com

REViEW:
The plot of Beautiful Darkness was very good. I was entertained for all of the 500+ pages. Because of its length though, this is a very long book. Just make sure you have a lot of time to read this book, because even though it is very interesting, it is very, very long. Nothing seemed to be prolonged, which I liked. The whole journey and background of Casters was very intriguing and unique. I feel like this will be an amazing series and will be epic in the movie theater.I definitely think you should give this dark, action-packed book a try. It's a new concept to our vampire and werewolf packed shelves.

The characters were pretty great, don't get me wrong, but I did have a few complaints. First off, Lena got on my nerves. I mean she was so perfect in Beautiful Creatures, but in this installment, she wasn't Lena. I get that she was half dark, but still, I wish she didn't completely ditch Ethan. I think I mainly wish that I could've seen more of her in this book. Oh Liv... I really enjoyed her character because she made up for Lena not being there, but I felt like she was just used by Ethan and was just put in there as a stand-in Lena. I did really enjoy getting to better know Ethan, Link and Ridley. I loved all three of them. I really felt bad for Ethan when Lena just abandoned him. Link really showed his personality, which was very entertaining. I absolutely loved how Ridley changed. She was a very believable character that  I can't wait to hear more from.

The ending was intense. So much happened in what felt like a blink of an eye. Wow... An ending like this is worth the 450 page wait. It's like the entire book builds up to this moment then BAM! It really made me excited to start the next book. Definitely over Christmas break I'll have to read it.

My Favorite Part: All the suspense and action towards the end.

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Yes, this is a pretty great series and will be an amazing movie!
Will I be reading the sequel? Yes, when I have enough time to read such a big, awesome book.

Thank you for reading!
