SUMMARY:
Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create. Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying. In Catching Fire, the second novel of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before... and surprising readers at every turn-Goodreads.com

REViEW:
As much as I loved Hunger Games, I didn't start this book until a year after I read the first. I just didn't think that there was any way that this book would be better than its predecessor. It wasn't, in my opinion. The things I didn't like about this book were not an issue in the first book. The plot seemed slow after the action packed Hunger Games. The plot in this book lacked a wow factor to me. In the last book. the Arena for the Games was so interesting and intriguing that I wanted to keep reading to find out the results. There wasn't much to look forward to in this book.

The characters were what ticked me off. Specifically, Katniss was so whiny and bratty in this book, which really irritated me. I really didn't like how Katniss refused to like Peeta and always chose Gale. I mean, make up your mind woman! (TEAM PEETA!) I really wish that the characters were strong role models in this book like they were before. Not all characters were bad though. Finnick was an interesting new character that I look forward to seeing more off. Peeta... I felt bad for him. Katniss really treated him poorly.

The ending was really kinda cool. It wasn't as amazing as I was hoping, but it still made me want to read the next book. Although I had some gripes about this book, it was a good addition to this amazing series. This book was good, but The Hunger Games was so flawless that it was hard for this book to stand up in comparison.

My Favorite Part: Probably the Games portion of this book.

ALL iN ALL:

Do I recommend this book? Yes, but I'm sure most of you have already read it.
Will I be reading the next book? Yes, this is an amazing series.

Thanks for reading! Are you ready for the Hunger Games movie? Is Mockingjay any better than this book?

  1. TEAM GALE! :p ha ha ha.

Catching Fire is actually my favorite in the series, but sad it wasn't as good as THG for you! Mockingjay is good, but some people are annoyed with how it is. I thought it was the only way the series could end, and since I knew that, I really, really liked Mockingjay. (Seriously--keep in mind that Katniss has had a hard life and serious things happened at the end of Catching Fire.)

    enjoy! :)
