April In My Mailbox

YAY! It has been FOREVER since I have done an IMM. Trust me, it's not because I haven't gotten any books, but rather I've been busy. In this IMM I'm only going to spotlight the books I got in April!

The Fault in Our Stars: The reviews I have read on this book were so amazing that I had to read this the second I bought it! I was actually lucky enough to get a signed copy of this book, which absolutely made my day! I have already finished this book and should have a review up for it soon! It is definitely worth all the hype. (The book below The Goddess Test in the picture at the left is my signed copy of this book!)

The Goddess Test: This is another book I got signed, also amazing! I have heard a lot of good things about this book and can't wait to read it for myself.

Bittersweet: A book about figure-skating and cupcakes... what can be better?

Lost Voices: What can I say? I'm loving books about mermaids. (Oops sorry forgot to add that one in the picture, my bad!)

Eve: I have heard a lot of mixed emotions about this book. It sounds intriguing so I'm going to try it!

Starcrossed: I love me so paranormal! This book sounds like it puts a unique twist on the usual told paranormal romances.

Delirium: Ah another dystopian. I've been really wanting this one for a while now. I can't wait to read this one.

Glow: This sounds super interesting and unique! I'm really excited to read this book!

Divergent: YES! I have finally received this book! I've heard TONS of amazing things about this book! I'm reading it right now and am already intrigued!

So what's in your mailbox this week? Did you read any of these books? Please comment and let me know! I loved all of the comments that you have left me. I read them all and really appreciate them! If you have read any of these books, which one should I read first?

Even better yet two of the books I read this month became all-time favorite books of mine (Bittersweet and The Fault in Our Stars). I definitely cannot wait to review all of these great books. I can only hope that next month will have even more amazing books in it!

3. Wings
4. Lost Voices
5. Bittersweet

REViEW:
I absolutely adored this book! This was the first mermaid book I have read and I surely wish that I would have picked this up sooner! I actually don't think I would've read this book if I hadn't received it as a present. The reason for that is because of the sort of cliche title and the chick-lit-y summary. I mean mermaid princess? Come on. I'm happy to report that this book had so much more depth and humor to it then it appears to contain. I absolutely loved all the little sea-life jokes Ms. Childs includes in this book. It added a bit of flow (no pun intended) to this novel. I really hope you consider giving this book a try, because it is much more mature then the summary and title makes it out to be.

The characters were amazing! Lily was a relatable, likable character. Although, I wish she could have seen Quince for how he was sooner, I understood her attraction to Brody. The mini love-triangle was a great component to making this book enjoyable and more relatable  for me. Now on to the man-candy: Quince was the ultimate character that I have come across. He was so hilarious and nice and just plain awesome. I really wish he was real. The entire relationship, love and hate, between Quince and Lily was fluently written and ideal to the plot. I definitely enjoyed it!

The ending was just as good as the rest of the book. I was happy with the way it ended. I was satisfied enough to wait to buy the sequel, but intrigued enough to put the sequel on my Top Priority wishlist. Overall, this was a light, quick, fun read that really made me smile. It's a favorite of mine and now I can't wait for more adventures with Lily and Quince.

My Favorite Part: The scenes with Quince, his humor really added a lot to the fast pace.

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! This is such a great, quick, fun summer read!
Will I be reading the next book? Yes! I actually already have! I'll post that review soon!

Thanks for reading! Did you like this book? Comment and let me know!

SUMMARY:
Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful--too beautiful for words.
Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever. -Goodreads.com

REViEW:
This was such a cute book! The fairy theme immediately drew me in. I started this book thinking I was just going to read the first two chapters to see how it is. The problem is, once I started reading, I was hooked! I couldn't stop reading this book. Every event moved so quickly, but not too fast. Pike's writing was so fluent, that it read like water; so simple, yet beautiful. I could see the entire world Pike created and battled the evil trolls alongside Laurel. The whole premise of this novel makes me want to go run out and buy the sequel.

Wing's characters were just plain great! Laurel was such a great character. Although this book was not from point of view, I still felt as if I got an inside look inside her thoughts. It was also very easy for me to relate to Laurel and to put myself in her shoes. I feel that if she was real, she would be one of my best friends. David, oh how I fell in love with him like Laurel. He was so kind and understanding of her whole situation. On the other hand, Tamani was also swoon-worthy. He was the other side of the spectrum; mysterious and dedicated. I sure wouldn't want to choose between him and David.

The ending was really intriguing. I really want to read the sequel now! I would hate to be put in Laurel's position. I can't wait to see how it all unravels throughout the rest of the story though. This book had a lot more to it than I initially expected. I definitely look forward to reading more of Laurel, David and Tamani. If you haven't already, pick this book up. It's such a nice, relaxing read.

My Favorite Part: Tamani's effect on the ending. It blew me away.

ALL iN ALL:

Do I recommend this book? Yes, it's a great book.
Will I be reading the next book? Yes, I'm really looking forward to it!

Thank you all for reading! I hope you liked this book as much as I did. I still have a lot of new reviews to post, so stay tuned throughout the week. Comment and let me know!

SUMMARY:
Chasing down an uncertain future, Cassia makes her way to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky--taken by the Society to his sure death--only to find that he has escaped into the majestic, but treacherous, canyons. On this wild frontier are glimmers of a different life and the enthralling promise of a rebellion. But even as Cassia sacrifices every thing to reunite with Ky, ingenious surprises from Xander may change the game once again.
Narrated from both Cassia's and Ky's point of view, this hotly anticipated sequel to Matched will take them both to the edge of Society, where nothing is as expected and crosses and double crosses make their path more twisted than ever.

REViEW:
I looked forward to reading this book since the day I finished Matched. Because of that, I was left a little unsatisfied. Just like Matched was, important events happened, but the entire book seemed uneventful. There were never any wow moments that really impressed me. Te plot seemed a little weak to me. I can't even really tell you what this book is about because It's about so many little things that don't amount to much in this installment. Despite its slow pace and lack of ultimate issue, this book did provide some enjoyment.

The characters in Crossed were more intriguing than they were in Matched. Ky and Cassia's romance was more developed and present in this book, which I loved.  In this book, I really was able to connect with both Cassia and Ky's feelings. I know have a greater respect for Ky and Cassia alike. I do wish Cassia showed her strength more and wasn't so oblivious in this book. There were also some new characters that I was also able to easily connect to and enjoy. Also, Xander has a secret, which was both mysterious and intriguing.

The ending was pretty good. It was kind of surprising but not jaw-dropping. I liked that way it turned out, but I particularly didn't enjoy Ky being there because he initially didn't want to be there. I'm really not sure how I feel about the ending because it seemed kind  of strange how everyone is going different places. All in all, I enjoyed this book. There were some things I did not like, but it did have it's bright spots. I'm just hoping to find out more about the Society in the next book.

My Favorite Part: Probably getting to read from Ky's point of view.

ALL iN ALL:
Do I recommend this book? Yes, it's a good sequel to Matched.
Will I be reading the next book? Yep, there's something about this series that sparks my interest. (probably the gorgeous covers.)

Thanks for reading! Did you like this book? Did you prefer this book or Matched? Comment and let me know!

In March, I read 4 books (to see which books check out my About Me page, link above). That's not bad, but this month will be 10x better! I have already read 3 books this month, so I plan to read at least 6 books this month. Also, I really think I'll be able to get a ton of reviews done this month. I hope to even post one later today. Seeing that it's taking awhile to get my YouTube channel in order, I'm going to have an April In My Mailbox on the blog. Happy reading!

Books I Plan to Read:
1. Crossed
2. Choker
3. Wings
4. Spirit Bound
5. Between Here and Forever
6. The Dead Girl's Dance

Reviews I Plan to Post:
1. Choker
2. Fins are Forever
3. Crossed
4. Wings
5. Glass Houses

Yep, I better get writing these reviews. I still have to catch up on a lot I didn't even include on that list.
