Weekly Update (1)

Hey everyone! How's your February going? I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's day! My first ever giveaway will be ending in two days so please enter now!!! The post for the giveaway is right below this one.

I didn't finish any books this week so far, but I hope to finish 3 books by next week.

Currently Reading:

A Touch Mortal (A Touch Trilogy, #1)
A Touch Mortal is amazing so far! I'm about a quarter through with it and so far it has completely captured my attention. The concept of Siders is so unique that I cannot wait to learn more about them! I also love to romance and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Pretty Little Secrets

Pretty Little Secrets is one of those books that you don't have to read. The series was fine without it, but it's getting a little better now. I'm about halfway through with it.

The Best of YA Authors Interview: Part 2

Here's the long awaited conclusion to my interview. I wish I could have asked more questions, but do to time constraints I couldn't. I did have a wonderful chat with all the authors about John Green though. We were all fan-girling about how amazing John Green is and we all admitted that we cried at the end of The Fault in Our Stars. It was a very nice moment. So without further do, I present you with Lisa & Laura Roecker (The Lying Society), Scott Tracey (Witch Eyes), Colleen Clayton (What Happens Next), and Leah Clifford (A Touch Mortal).

What authors inspire you in your writing?
   Lisa Roecker: Christopher Pike.
Laura Roecker: R.L. Stine and any great writer.
   Scott Tracey: L. J. Smith.
   Leah Clifford: All of them.
Colleen Clayton: Alyssa Brugman, an Australian author. I identified with her voice and sent her a fan letter, which began our friendship.

What is the last book you read?
Lisa Roecker: Love and Other Perishable Items.
   Laura Roecker: The Raven Boys.
   Scott Tracey: The Archived.
   Leah Clifford: Teeth.
Colleen Clayton: Thin Space by Jodi Castella.

Have you ever read a book more than once?
Lisa Roecker: I've read Beach Music 3 times and I've also reread The Sky is Everywhere and Before I Fall.
   Laura Roecker: Beach Music.
Scott Tracey: If I love the book, I'll reread it once a year.
Leah Clifford: I reread a lot. I read Interview with a Vampire many times.
Colleen Clayton: Breathing Underwater by Alex Flynn.

What is your favorite classic?

Lisa Roecker: There are so many good ones. Probably Pride and Prejudice or Little Women.
   Laura Roecker: The Great Gatsby.
Scott Tracey: Pride and Prejudice or the Secret Garden.
   Leah Clifford: The Great Gatsby.
   Colleen Clayton: Frankenstein.

Edward or Jacob?
   Lisa Roecker: Jacob.
   Laura Roecker: Jacob.
   Scott Tracey: Jacob.
   Leah Clifford: Jacob.
   Colleen Clayton: Charlie.
(All of the others tried to change their votes to Charlie once Clayton did.)

Peeta or Gale?
   Lisa Roecker: Gale.
   Laura Roecker: Gale.
   Scott Tracey: Team Katniss.
Leah Clifford: Katniss, she doesn't need a man.

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
   Lisa Roecker: Finish.
Laura Roecker: Have other people read your writing.
   Scott Tracey: Keep reading.
Leah Clifford: Writer's write, so write.
   Colleen Clayton: Finish your stories.

Well that was exciting if I do say so myself, although I do disagree because Edward is the best. Keep checking back on the blog for a very special giveaway happening this week! Also, I will start posting reviews on the books by these authors because I just started reading some of them!

The Best of YA Authors Interview: Part 1

Today I'll be posting half of the super intensive interview that took place yesterday with Lisa & Laura Roecker (The Liar Society), Scott Tracey (Witch Eyes), Colleen Clayton (What Happens Next), and Leah Clifford (A Touch Mortal). They all were very entertaining throughout this interview, I hope you enjoy it! I will be posting the second half of this interview very soon!
Is there anyone in particular that influenced you to be a writer?
Lisa Roecker: I always just wanted to write the backs of books.
   Laura Roecker: My sister.
Scott Tracey: I started out writing newspapers for my family because I thought that was the only kind of writing out there.
Leah Clifford: Stephen King and Anne Rice.
Colleen Clayton: Reading in general. I just get an image in my head so I start writing.

Where is your favorite place to write?

   Lisa Roecker: The couch.
   Laura Roecker: Library.
Scott Tracey: Lately, I've been writing a lot at the coffee shop.
   Leah Clifford: My bed.
   Colleen Clayton: My desk.

What is the most random thing you have on your desk?

Lisa Roecker: Random bits of food.
Laura Roecker: A little baby Jesus.
Scott Tracey: There's three things actually. 1. A key from Pirates of the Caribbean. 2. A green stuffed animal that was named the Panic Monster. 3. A paperweight with french writing and a picture of an eyeball on it.
Leah Clifford: A shark embryo in a jar that's missing one eye. It's named Cloudy Eye Willy.
Colleen Clayton: A snow globe from Cedar Point.

Where do you get your ideas from?

   Lisa Roecker: TV
   Laura Roecker: My sister.
   Scott Tracey: TV
Leah Clifford: I start out writing a short story and then put it away. In a few years I take it out and recycle it and finish it.
   Colleen Clayton: Cleveland.

What is your favorite TV show?

   Lisa Roecker: Girls.
   Laura Roecker: Girls.
   Scott Tracey: Revenge.
   Leah Clifford: Teen Wolf.
Colleen Clayton: Justified and New Girl.

Have you ever had writer's block? How did you get over it?

Lisa Roecker: Yes, just keep writing and edit.
Scott Tracey: I'm still trying to get over it. It's just a matter of finding the mistake and backtracking.
Leah Clifford: Yes, my editor helped me change the direction of my writing.
Colleen Clayton: My issue is just trying to sit down to write. I'm a binge writer, I avoid writing sometimes.

Do you ever let anyone read your writing before it's finished?

Laura Roecker: We have some readers that read our writing before we finish.
Scott Tracey: Not until it's polished.
Leah Clifford: I let Scott Tracey read my work.
Colleen Clayton: I let my close friends, agent and Alyssa Brugman beta read.

Stay tuned for more questions! Especially the most pressing debate: Edward vs Jacob!
