REViEW:
When I saw that Fire with Fire ARCs were going to be given out at the Book Expo of America, I knew I had to go. Yes, I trekked all the way to New York City during my finals week (I took them all early in order to go) for the sole purpose of being able to read Fire with Fire early. It was totally worth it! After that cliffhanger at the end of Burn for Burn, I needed to get some inner peace. Once again Han and Vivian have written an intriguing and unique read that is impossible to put down. The beginning of the book focuses on the effects of the Homecoming revenge and then soars right into their next dose of revenge. Sure, the revenge these girl's commit is intense but these two amazing author's pull it off realistically. I loved Burn for Burn and this book has everything I loved in the first book times 100.   

The characters were even better than in the first book, if that's even possible. Lillia is the star and main character of this installment. Her character is more developed in this book and I enjoyed seeing her grow closer to Kat and Mary. Lillia isn't just some popular girl, she has a lot more depth than that. I really liked the drama surrounding Reeve and Lillia. Reeve seems to be just an insensitive jerk but there may be more to him then expected. Honestly, I think he deserves all the revenge he has to undergo, but I am happy about how things ended with Lillia and Reeve. Kat and Mary's stories were not the focus or drive of this book, but they were intriguing nonetheless. Kat has to deal with college application stress and the memory of her mother. Mary has to find out who she really is, and what Aunt Bette and the rest of her family never told her. Then we have popular Miss Rennie, who I have a love hate relationship with. I started to like her towards the end. The authors probably did that to tear at our heartstrings at the end.   

The ending...just WHAAAAAAAT?!?!? My mind is so blown, like how? It doesn't make sense! But the next book will probably explain it all. I just can't get this ending out of my mind. It was so amazing! Definitely not what I expected, that's for sure. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked the direction the series was going with the paranormal aspect, but now I love the uniqueness of the plot. I really cannot stop thinking about what's going to happen in the last book. I feel like the publisher is punishing us with having to wait a whole year for the third book. Don't hesitate to buy this series because it is a unique blend of mystery, contemporary, and paranormal elements. The YA world needs more books like this.   

My Favorite Part: The twists and turns toward the end. Like my mind is blown haha.

1. The Hunger Games: It's now a classic. I shouldn't have to explain myself.

2. Divergent: Probably one of my favorite books ever. Such an interesting way of life with the factions.

3. Delirium: It'd be terrible to live in a world with no love, but the world was so intriguing. I love the idea of the Wilds where people run away to in order to be able to love.  

4. Wither: This world was really depressing with the way the wives were taken. The entire premise of this book captivated me instantly and made for an amazing book. All of the sister wives were such great characters, especially Cecily.

5. Eve: I really enjoyed this book. The journey in this book was so interesting and all of the characters were perfect.

6. Matched: The premise of the Society where people are matched to their spouse, without any input. It's a fascinating series and the rebellion is really intense.

7. Taken: I loved how when boys are 18 they are taken from their homeland. It was such a mystery as to why and now that I found out why the story has become very twisted.

8. For Darkness Shows the Stars: The setting and plot of this book is intriguing and perfect.

9. Legend: This book seems so exciting! I cannot wait to read it! I have heard so many great things about it.

10. Black City: I cannot wait to dive into this world either!

2. This Lullaby: Remy and Dexter are the best couple ever and I want more of them. Dang it Sarah Dessen! You and your heartthrob guy characters...

3. An Abundance of Katherines: John Green's characters are the best and I cannot get enough of Colin, Lindsey, and of course, the most memorable and hilarious, Hassan!  

4. Choker: This book scares the heck out of me. I want to know more about this mentally unstable girl.

5. All I Need: I really want to read more about Skye and Seth's relationship and how they manage through college.

6. The Host: I need more Stephenie Meyer. I'm in serious Twilight withdraw here.

7. Along for the Ride: Auden's still growing and experiencing more firsts. The story was so heartfelt I really want to read more. I need to know that Eli and Auden are still okay.

8. Clean: I want to know about how Olivia is doing and more about if the teens went back to their old ways.

9. Thirteen Reasons Why: I would love to see more reasons that would drive a person to suicide and to wonder what could have been done to prevent it.

10. Impulse: I am absolutely and utterly obsessed with this book. 'Nuff said.

REViEW:
This book immediately caught my attention. Joy is stabbed in the eye while at a club by a mysterious man with the pitch black eyes that no one else can see. From then on Ms. Metcalf dives into the history of a whole new creature and world, the Twixt. It was an interesting premise from the start, but it was a little unbelievable to me. Ink, the mysterious guy, and his sister, Inq, mark people with their own signature. It's a unique kind of creature and the concept was very interesting at the beginning. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy this book, but the farther into the story I got, the less I believed in the world and the repetitive the story became. Once Joy is marked, all these weird people start falling her around and some even attack her. Most of the book describes an event of this. One after the other. Same thing, but with a different person. It made me lose interest a bit. If this book was just a little shorter, I feel like this book would absolutely amazing.  

The characters were intriguing. Joy was probably the most believable character to me. I liked being able to see her grow throughout the book. Ink was a good character too, but he lacked that heartthrob factor. Joy and Ink's relationship felt a little forced to me. It happened gradually but they were never really lovey dovey. No romantic banter between these two. Inq was pretty fun to read about, on the other hand. I loved some scenes involving her, but it was really freaky when she marked Joy. Honestly, I wish I was able to connect with the characters more. There is such potential and a unique concept to this book that I hope the next books are even better.

The ending was pretty good. The big battle scene I didn't really get much out of because of all the action leading up to it, but I did enjoy the last couple of chapters. I find it interesting about Joy's powers, so I hope Metcalf dives into that some more in the sequel. Despite the few things that slowed the pace for me, I did enjoy reading this book. There were a lot of good moments that had me relating to and rooting for Joy.

My Favorite Part: The epilogue.

  I started It's a Book Thing in June 2011 when my own personal library grew to around 100+ books. I was sitting in a booth of my favorite restaurant with my parents brainstorming names for a book blog. Many names were suggested, but eventually I chose It's a Book Thing. I became interested in book blogging when I first saw the Chapter Chicks. I loved their blog and YouTube channel and wanted to be just like them. Then It's a Book Thing was born.

   I blog in order to share my love and passion for books. I wanted to reach more people than just my small little school's student body. I have a strong opinion on books and I wanted to be able to share it and be able to influence book buyers. All my life I have loved books since I picked up my first Nancy Drew Yellow Hardback. I love the depth and imagination the author puts into their books. It's amazing how many different stories out there and I'm so glad I am able to make a record of all the books I read by blogging. Maybe one day when I'm older I'll be able to show my teenage daughter which books changed my life and how much reading has brought to my life.

REViEW:
I read this book in January, it was the first book that I read this year and I can still remember it as if I finished it yesterday. The basis of the plot was Lillia, Kat, and Mary planning to get revenge on each of the people that ruined their lives, but there's a lot more depth to tit then that. I've never read a book about revenge before so this premise was very unique to me. Sure, not everyone goes to extreme measures to get even, but that didn't make this book any less relatable. I was able to bond with most of the characters, including the main girls as well as the popular people. This book was a fast and easy read because Lillia, Kat and Mary's world captivated me and I felt as if I was part of the story. This book is told from alternating perspectives of the three girls, but it was not confusing at all. It added so much more to Jar Island and really engulfed me in each of their lives. Revenge might not be the right thing to do, but these targets have it coming to them.  

The characters were really interesting. I started out not really liking Lillia, but as the book progressed, I started to get an understanding of all she had to undergo and felt some sympathy about what happened at the party. Mary also had a very sad backstory, but I feel like that wasn't a very very strong reason for leaving town. I loved Kat's character and liked how she pulled all of the girls together. I think their secret friendship really made this book thrilling in a way. Rennie, the popular girl, friend of Lillia, and ex-best friend of Kat, was just that, a popular, snobby girl. I did really like to see the struggle of Lillia backstabbing Rennie, I cannot imagine how hard that'd be. Reeve is ridiculous, I can't believe what he did to Mary, but he's basically just an immature teenage boy. I developed a small crush on Alex, the other main guy, because of how good of a friend he was for Kat and Lillia at the beginning. Now he's even making me suspicious.   

The ending contained the one thing that made me a little unsure about the rest of the trilogy. The ending was pretty great with all that action, but there was that one twist that kind of upset me. The reason why I loved this book so much was the realness of it and that it was contemporary fiction, but then that paranormal twist came. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I trust Han and Vivian to make it as realistic as possible. All in all, I loved this book. It was the first book I read this year and as of now it is still the best!

My Favorite Part: I loved the revenge! It was so unique and absolutely intriguing!

AUGUST!

Noooo the summer is coming to a close faster than ever, in my opinion. I feel like I haven't done much this summer, but I guess that's a good thing. I blogged a decent amount last month! Let's try to beat it this month, shall we? The past two months I have had the highest amount of visitors and tons of traffic and it's making me super excited. I have a ton of reviews planned out including TONS of ARCS!!! Expect some new David Levithan and some Jenny Han real soon!
